Brent Edward Holt

Mr. Brent Holt, 52, of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Thomasville Medical Center. He was born on October 9, 1972, in Guilford County, to Gary Dexter Holt and Helen Ann Deberry Holt. He graduated from East Davidson High school in 1990 and earned his BLET certification from Davidson County Community College. Brent was of the Baptist faith and was a loyal family man. On October 26, 1997, Brent married Misty McClure and they enjoyed 27 years as husband and wife. He loved Christmas holidays and had to watch the movies Christmas Vacation and Die Hard, every year without fail. He was also a history buff and enjoyed watching old war movies. Brent’s favorite sports teams were the Miami Dolphins and the NY Yankees, but he loved NASCAR the best and his favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. He was a wonderful storyteller and his grandkids loved the tall tales he would entertain them with, including the existence of Big Foot. Brent enjoyed traveling to the mountains and also scenic boat rides with his family. Brent was a loyal and dedicated firefighter for many years and started his career as a Junior firefighter with Fair Grove Fire Department. He also served with Silver Valley Fire Department and Pilot Fire Department. He won firefighter of the Year in 2019 and also received an Honorable Award in 1998 while employed with Thomasville Police Department. Brent also served with Thomasville Rescue Squad for many faithful years. He was well-known for helping with the Fair Grove Fire Department Annual BBQ and really enjoyed the time spent preparing for this community event and it’s been said, the event wasn’t the same since he quit helping. Brent also proudly polished the fire trucks each year in preparation for the Thomasville Christmas Parade. Brent inspired and touched so many lives thru his career before going on medical leave in 2021. Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Curits and Margaret Holt, Alton & Bessie Deberry; his great-grandmother, Edna Jane Lookabill; his father-in-law, Raymond McClure; and a special cousin, Mark Holt. Surviving is his loving wife, Misty McClure Holt, of the home; his son, Alton Holt and wife Hanna; his parents, Gary Holt and Helen Ann Holt; four grandchildren, Palmer, William, Jenna, Landon; his brother, Travis Holt and wife Rene; mother-in-law, Louise McClure; niece, Kayla Holt; many extended family members and close friends. Brent will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2024 at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends beginning at 12 Noon until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Donations in Brent’s honor may be directed to the family to help with funeral expenses. Brent’s family selflessly chose to participate in Honor Bridge anatomical donation services, which provided life-changing gifts to others.
