Legacy
Beyond a service, we're committed to helping families create lasting tributes that transcend generations.
For over 70 years, Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery has helped families plan meaningful, dignified tributes. We believe your loved ones deserve lasting honor and compassion through a physical memorial.
Founded in 1947 by Ralph H. Wilson, the cemetery was transformed from a city-run utility into a park-like space supported by a perpetual trust. With flat bronze markers, walkways, and landscaping, it became a place of remembrance and community beauty.
Families know they can count on us to provide them the comfort they need when they need it most

Eric Anderson
Owner | Cemetery Director
Eric’s journey to Holly Hill Memorial Park has been built on faith, family, hard work, and a heart for serving others.
His career began in the late 1990s while attending Cape Fear Community College at night and working construction during the day. Looking for a way to build a better future, Eric stepped into the world of sales and leadership, where he quickly discovered a passion for helping people, building relationships, and creating opportunities for others.
Over the years, Eric grew into leadership roles across several industries, including automotive, roofing, and memorial care. Along the way, he developed a reputation for building strong teams, creating systems that serve people well, and restoring beauty and purpose to the places he worked.
Eric’s path into memorial care began when he saw a once-beautiful cemetery that had lost some of its charm and care. Where others may have seen decline, Eric saw potential. He saw an opportunity to restore dignity, beauty, and peace for the families who visited there. That vision led him into the memorial profession, where he found his true calling.
Even as his career grew, Eric never lost sight of what mattered most. When work began taking too much time away from his wife, Megan, and their children, Eric decided to put his faith and family first. He took on new opportunities that aligned with his values, eventually leading him back home to North Carolina.
In 2017, Eric became Cemetery Director of Holly Hill Memorial Park, and what started as a career move quickly became a mission.
Today, Eric is proud to also serve as Owner, with Megan, his GM, by his side. Together, they are dedicated to making Holly Hill more than a cemetery. It is a place of peace, healing, remembrance, and community. A place where families gather, children feed the ducks, and loved ones are honored in a beautiful, sacred space.
Since coming to Holly Hill, Eric has worked tirelessly to enhance the park, create meaningful spaces for remembrance, and build events and experiences that bring families and the community together. His mission is to honor God in all they do, create a place that brings comfort and peace, and leave behind a legacy his children can one day continue.
Outside of Holly Hill, Eric enjoys studying theology, playing Forza, surfing, spending time with fellow car enthusiasts in the North Carolina Mustang Mafia and Saleen club of the Carolinas, and, most importantly, making memories with Megan and their children.
Eric Anderson Sr.’s story is one of resilience, faith, and purpose, and Holly Hill is blessed to have his heart and vision leading the way.
Megan Anderson
Owner | General Manager
Megan Anderson serves as Owner and General Manager of Holly Hill, alongside her husband, Eric Anderson, Sr., Owner and Cemetery Director. Together, they are raising their two children while leading Holly Hill with a heart for service, memorialization, and community care.
Originally from Beaufort, South Carolina, Megan had the opportunity to be part of some unique experiences there, including small roles in Forrest Gump and Radio. Later, after moving to Wilmington, North Carolina, she continued pursuing her love for the performing arts and had a small part in the television show Surface, along with time with the Hammerheads and Sea Dogs dance teams.
But it was life’s harder moments that helped shape the path she would one day walk.
After the unexpected loss of her father in May 2014, Megan came to understand on a very personal level just how much compassion, integrity, and genuine care matter when families are facing loss.
When she and Eric returned to North Carolina to be closer to family, and Eric began working at Holly Hill, Megan entered the cemetery profession with a heart for serving others and a strong attention to detail. She started on the administrative side, and through dedication, growth, and a true calling for the work, she eventually became General Manager. In time, Megan and Eric became owners of Holly Hill, carrying on its family-owned and operated legacy with deep love for the families and community they serve.
As Megan grew in the profession, her desire to help families remained at the center of everything she did. She became Thomasville’s first Certified Funeral Celebrant and has used that role to bring even more meaning and personalization to the families she serves.
Through her creativity, leadership, and vision, Megan has also helped redefine memorialization at Holly Hill. Today, more than 80% of the memorials sold are highly customized with special colors, emblems, and cameos, helping families create one-of-a-kind tributes that truly reflect the lives of their loved ones.
Beyond Holly Hill, Megan has also made a lasting impact in the cemetery profession and in the community. She is a past president of the North Carolina Cemetery Association, a national speaker on memorialization, and the founder and president of Holly Hill Cares, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Along with the Holly Hill Cares board, she helps lead toy, food, and clothing drives, school supply efforts, a Christmas gift assistance program, and our annual Celebration of First Responders gala.
Megan leads with heart, strength, creativity, and compassion, and we are so grateful for the love she pours into Holly Hill, into the families we serve, and into the Thomasville community.
Angela McPhatter
Family Service Counselor
Angela McPhatter has served at Holly Hill for over 20 years. She is from Thomasville and attended East Davidson. Angela is deeply attached to her community and its residents. Her family, especially her son and granddaughter, are her greatest treasures. Angela strongly supports Davidson County Hospice because they provided invaluable support to her family when her mother passed away in 2014. Every year, in July, she joins her dad, Lee McPhatter, for the Hospice ride to honor her mother Carolyn Sue. Interestingly, it was during her time by her mother's side that Angela began her journey with the Holly Hill family. Initially, they would regularly clean the office, but her exceptional personality caught the attention of management, who asked her to join as an office administrator. This marked the beginning of Angela's ultimate plan. Her genuine concern for families and unwavering commitment to doing what is right set her on the path to becoming a Family Service Counselor, a role she has held for over two decades. Angela has served countless families in Thomasville and the surrounding communities throughout her career. If you were to inquire about their experiences, they would describe a woman of integrity, empathy, and care, someone who goes above and beyond to support people during their time of grief. Many speak of their everlasting gratitude for being served by such a kind-hearted individual. To quote Angela herself, "The most rewarding feeling is when people I've assisted make me feel like I'm part of their family and acknowledge the good work I've done."
Jamal Tahirkheli
Marketing | Family Service Assistant
Born in High Point, Jamal was raised by his grandparents in nearby Wallburg. His childhood was simple in the best way: Long days riding his bike through cow pastures, soaking in the quiet of country living, and listening to Conway Twitty, George Jones, George Strait, and southern gospel playing in the background. Those early years shaped his appreciation for faith, hard work, and meaningful connection.
After graduating from Union Grove Christian School in 2006, Jamal jumped straight into the workforce, beginning as a Maintenance Technician at Alston Brook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (now Davidson Health & Rehab Center). His work ethic and heart for people quickly stood out, leading to a promotion as Transportation Director. Over the next several years, Jamal continued serving the senior community, eventually becoming Maintenance Director for Carolina Senior Living and Carolina Senior Care in Lexington. He spent his 20s and early 30s devoted to caring for others, building relationships, and learning the importance of compassion in everyday work.
But in 2020, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, Jamal began to feel a pull toward something more. Alongside a close friend, he co-founded the Davidson County Network, a local social media platform that highlighted stories from community leaders, athletes, and business owners. While the project eventually came to an end, it sparked something lasting. A passion for storytelling and connecting with people in a deeper way.
Jamal continued searching for his path, earning an Associate’s Degree in Emergency Management from Waldorf University in 2022. Still, something didn’t feel quite right. After a lot of prayer and reflection, he realized that his true calling centered around telling stories and building connections. That realization led him to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing at Western Carolina University.
It was during this time that his life took a meaningful turn. Some of Jamal’s marketing work caught the attention of Megan and Eric Anderson, who saw something special in his approach. Eric offered Jamal the opportunity to help with Holly Hill’s social media, and in 2024, Jamal officially joined the Holly Hill family as Marketing Director and Family Service Assistant.
Today, you’ll often find Jamal out in the park wearing his signature cowboy hat. Capturing photos, filming social media content, offering a cold bottle of water to visitors on a hot day, or even taking Princess Holly, Holly Hill’s Grief Support dog, out for a walk. Inside the office, he may be one of the first faces you see or the voice that answers your call. Alongside Wendy, Jamal plays an important role in making sure every family feels cared for and supported.
He also serves as Vice President of Holly Hill Cares, the organization’s nonprofit dedicated to helping families in the community, and as Treasurer of the North Carolina Cemetery Association.
When asked about his journey, Jamal speaks with deep gratitude:
“Eric and Megan have spent years teaching me about the cemetery and funeral industry. They’ve invested time and mentored me unlike anyone else in my professional life. They’ve given me opportunities I never could have imagined. And it’s not just them: Angie, Wendy, Mike, Alex, Eric Jr., and Mayci all mean so much to me. Each of them has become like family to me, and I’m incredibly grateful to be surrounded by them every day. All of us here at Holly Hill, we aren’t just co-workers, we’re family. And I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and love on families during some of their toughest moments, because that’s when I believe we can truly love like Jesus.”
Outside of work, Jamal is a diehard Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan and loves attending NASCAR races whenever he can…Go Chase Elliott!
But more than anything, Jamal is a family man.
He and his wife, Kelly, along with their five children, Lincoln, Saylor, Tucker, Khloe, and Zoey, call Lexington home. Whether it’s a simple night together, a ballgame, or a family outing, Jamal treasures every moment with his family. Creating memories with his wife and kids isn’t just something he enjoys, but what matters most to him. His love for his family is at the center of everything he does, and it’s that same heart that carries over into how he serves others each day.
Wendy Michael
Office Administrator | Family Service Assistant
Wendy was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where she spent the majority of her childhood. She relocated to Randolph County with her mother to complete her education at Eastern Randolph High School. Ultimately settling in Thomasville in 2011 after the birth of her first child. She is a proud mother of two daughters who attended Bethany Christian School in Thomasville.
Helping her father maintain their family cemetery growing up, she never thought she would find her home in serving families in the cemetery industry as a career. She pursued an associate's degree in architectural drafting at Guilford Technical Community College; however, her career path ultimately shifted. While working in retail at GNC, she cultivated a passion for assisting customers, utilizing a learned knowledge and interest in the supplement industry. However, through a trusted friend Wendy’s path shifted again when they introduced her to the cemetery industry in 2007.
After joining, Wendy learned the reality of what many families experience when she lost her father in 2009 to cancer. Assisting her siblings with funeral planning was a profoundly memorable experience for her, shaping her conviction about the quality of service every family deserves when planning for themselves or coping with the loss of a loved one.
As a floating administrator, working across various cemeteries from Burlington to Charlotte, Wendy gained comprehensive insight into the operations of the corporate cemetery industry's departments. Her administrative role allowed her meticulous attention to detail to significantly contribute behind the scenes, effectively supporting the Sales and Maintenance departments. This experience underscored the critical importance of teamwork and communication.
In 2022, Wendy was invited to join the Sales department to assist her current cemetery in cultivating a stronger community relationship, utilizing empathy, compassion, and a composed demeanor. Wendy performed exceptionally well, as anticipated, earning the respect of all families through her meticulous attention to detail, which many considered to be beyond the required or suggested standard.
In April of 2025, Wendy was presented with an opportunity to join the Holly Hill family. With nearly eighteen years of industry experience and extensive knowledge, she established her new professional home at Holly Hill. The transition from a corporate environment to a family-owned establishment proved to be a highly insightful experience, as she recognized that Eric and Megan shared a profound commitment to serving families and enhancing the experience during the grieving process. Recognizing the significant impact this service has on families, this alignment was paramount to Wendy. Although her responsibilities have primarily shifted back to administration, she remains an active part of the Holly Hill family, warmly greeting families and supporting daily operations.
Fully embracing her career, Wendy has made it her objective to treat every family with the utmost care, as if they were her own. She is dedicated to serving each family with compassion, respect, patience, and empathy while guiding them through the most challenging decisions of their lives.
"My greatest success is when a family leaves from a meeting with our staff smiling through the heartache, secure with the decisions made and knowing we have honored someone they loved."
