Jeannine Johnson Hunt

Mrs. Jeannine Johnson Hunt, 84, a resident of Thomasville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday evening, February 12, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Jeannine was born August 28, 1940, at home in Guilford County to the late William Johnson, Jr. and Dorothy “Dot” Trexler Johnson. She was one of seven children. Jeannine worked at Prelude for 10 years and she was a member of the Presidential Club with Avon for over 30 years. She married Branson Hunt on May 10, 1958. You would never catch them without one another. Jeannine enjoyed camping, fishing, horseback riding and boating. She loved her jewelry collection and other items she collected. Jeannine loved her family dearly and she held a special place in her heart for her eight great-grandchildren. She will be incredibly missed by so many. Branson and Jeannine had a love story that was special, and anyone who knew them could see how much love they had for each other. Their love never ended and now they have their happy ending together again. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Branson Hunt, son-in-law, Terry Simmons, sisters-in-law, Shirley and Peggy; two nephews, Wayne and Stevie; and a niece Susie. Surviving is her daughter, Tammy Simmons; two sons, Billy Hunt and wife Lisa, Scott Hunt and wife Tammy; three sisters, Lynda, Sharon and husband Bobby, Gayle; three brothers, Calvin Johnson and wife Sharon, Donnie Johnson, Gerald Johnson and wife Rebecca; five grandchildren, Will “Scooter” Hunt, Brandon Simmons and wife Lea, Christy Younts and husband Brandon, Courtney West and husband Carl, Brittney Peterson and husband Alex,; eight great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Kara, Kylee, Dalton, Peyton, Carter, Tristan and Aaliyah; sister-in law, Judy Morelock and long-time best friend Terry “Shorty” Payne; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Harold Harper and Cynthia Swicegood officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening, February 16, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Thomasville. Memorials in Jeannine’s honor may be given to Mountain Valley Hospice 105 N. Crutchfield Street, Unit 2, Dobson, NC 27017.
